I received this item quickly and it was assembled quickly.very straightforward. The stand with lights work very well with my Mustool microscope, which I've mounted on a swing arm, but can take off and attach to the stand at will with ease. The microscope itself is just amazing and zooms in fine for what I need it to do. I thought the quality of the packaging was very nice. I have plenty of light where it sits, so I didn't mount the stand that came with the lights. I purchased another stand beforehand that I planned on mounting the Andonstar microscope to. Nice unit for the price, solid aluminum construction on the base, and super fun looking at various collected specimens with my wife and daughters. The menus take a bit of getting used to and the default setting of 50hz needs to be changed to 60hz if you're in the USA. You can remove your files to your computer in one of two ways - with an SD card reader, or hooking the unit up via USB as a drive. It's also nice to have removable (and thus UPGRADABLE) Micro SD memory.

I connected it directly to the PC (through the USB port) and down loaded the free version of NCH Video Capture software (see the link and image below).Ī few slight complaints such as no instructions, the inability to record video while in monitor HDMI monitor mode, poor quality audio, and the poor placement of the LED articulating arms (too close to the height adjustment screws), this is actually a really usable and good quality digital microscope overall.

I would recommend using an extractor fan so that the fumes from soldering don't foul the lens, and there is a very good mod that can be made to use polarising light in the LED lights and 'scope lens. There is also very little lag between the movement under the microscope and the picture that appears on the screen, which is of extreme importance when soldering since lag makes it very difficult to precisely locate the part to solder. The image is crystal clear and the focusing is very smooth. With its long working distance and flexible lighting this is probably the best electronic re-working microscope you can get for under 200 GBP. The name of the items should be however shortened and the rest of it should be included only on the usage section of the product.
